Additive manufacturing Trumpf presents new 3D printing software

By Ahlam Rais

Germany – Trumpf recently presented its new software ‘TruTops Print’ which aims to improve the efficiency of 3D printing without reducing the quality of the parts. The strong point of this software is its “Z segmentation” function which helps the 3D printer to generate more or less thick layers for each part according to the importance of each segment.

Trumpf is constantly striving to make its 3D printing systems even smarter and more productive. The company recently took advantage of the Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt to present its new software to improve the efficiency of 3D printing. Its new software “TruTops Print” now combines several stages of data preparation and planning that previously required several different software tools.

One of the coolest features of the new software is “Z segmentation”. This feature increases the productivity of the system by dividing the parts into different segments and assigning different parameters to each segment based on the quality of the part required. This allows the 3D printer to generate thicker or thinner layers for each part depending on the importance of the respective segment. This flexible approach to printing increases system productivity without decreasing part quality.

Trumpf has partnered with technology provider Module Works to develop the new software. As part of their strategic partnership, development engineers from both companies have joined forces to tailor TruTops Print software to the specific requirements of Trumpf 3D printing systems and equip it with an intuitive user interface.

This new software enables the company to offer its customers a more tailored approach to operating its TruPrint 3D printers.
