Sinterit Adds Automatic Nesting to SLS Printing Software »3D Printing Media Network

Polish specialist SLS Sinterit has added new features to its Sinterit Studio 3D printing software, including an automatic nesting feature to pack multiple models onto the print bed of its Sinterit Lisa and Lisa PRO benchtop 3D printers.

Nesting is the practice of methodically organizing multiple models into a single print job. This can be done manually by aligning separate objects in the CAD / CAM environment, but tools such as Sinterit’s new offering can automatically calculate the optimal arrangements that result in the maximum amount of units in a single build. SLS is particularly conducive to nesting due to its absence of troublesome support structures.

Sinterit says its new automatic nesting software feature will reduce build preparation time and, more significantly, reduce print times and material usage.

In addition to automatic nesting, the new version of the software also provides new adjustable aperture settings, allowing users to change the temperature settings of Lisa and Lisa PRO printers. Four heating zones comprising a total of 22 heating elements can be controlled by the user to suit different materials and experimental procedures.

“Temperature distribution is crucial in the SLS printing process,” says Michal Grzymala-Moszczynski, co-founder and CTO of Sinterit. “This is why it is essential that we provide the ability to control every heating element in our printer, which now gives you the ability to develop new materials and quality prints. “

Sinterit introduced the Lisa 3D printer in 2015 as the most affordable SLS system on the market, followed by the Lisa PRO, a larger and more robust system. In addition to its printing hardware, its SLS ecosystem includes software, post-processing equipment and last year’s powder processing station.

Sinterit also offers a wide range of SLS materials for its printers. Earlier this month, the Krakow-based company introduced polypropylene (PP) powder for both Lisa models, touting its usefulness for waterproof parts like electronic enclosures.
