The editors would
like to extend a special thank you to the visual artists, Sal
Barajas and Ricardo Levins Morales, who created the front and
back covers of this chapbook pro bono. It is important to note
that Sal and Ricardo did not know each other prior to this project
and that they have yet to meet in person. Their collaboration
entailed long distance telephone calls and sending one another
ideas and sketches via cyberspace. In the true spirit of community
art, they donated their time and energy to birth images that mirrored
the overall sentiment of the included poems. We would like them
both to know how much we appreciate their contribution, their
professionalism, and their continual presencia and activism in
our communities.
