Red CalacArts Collective to Commemorate International Women's Day
Celebration to Feature Poetry and Teatro by Female Artists

The Red CalacArts Collective presents the 4th Annual International Women's Day Celebration on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 6:30pm at the Memorial Academy Auditorium (2850 Logan Ave., San Diego, CA 92113) in Barrio Logan.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

The 4th Annual International Women's Day Celebration will feature poetry and teatro by female artists of color including the Hip Hop poetics of Haero Dizaye; wild words by Chicana poetess and Fresno transplant Marissa Raigoza; an inspirational presentation by Somos Raza youth activist Nancy Zepeda; and a special one woman teatro performance by San Diego City College profesora Maria Figueroa.

Join the community of Barrio Logan, Memorial Academy, and the Red CalacArts Collective for an evening of socially conscious word celebrating the artistic work of la mujer.

 

The Red CalacArts Collective, a project of the independent Chicano literary publisher Calaca Press, is a not for profit multidisciplinary arts and activist organization that focuses on creating, publishing, producing, and presenting Chicano, Latin American and indigenous related art focusing on issues dealing with human rights and social justice.
